The Vision

It is Rebecca’s dream to blend business and education. While working with technical and sales professionals in high tech, publishing, finance, and the real estate industry, in addition to teaching English at Foothill College and working with numerous individuals and companies as an Accent Reduction Coach, she has developed an in-depth understanding of what non-native speakers of American English need to know to be successful.

The Importance of Accent Reduction

Accent Reduction opens doors for foreign-born citizens of California. By improving their ability to speak clearly, project confidence, and not have to repeat what they say, professionals in the valley can achieve success, find new career opportunities, qualify for positions and promotions, and reach new heights they may not have realized were possible.

The Early Years

Rebecca moved to California in her 20’s with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska and spent the economic boom years in the valley in high tech, working in computer support for NASA-Ames Research Center, Taligent, Synopsys, and ParcPlace.

Corporate Training & Education

In her 30’s, Rebecca moved into corporate training and developed programs to teach sales representatives and internal staff at Thompson Publishing in Belmont how to increase their productivity. She then returned to school to complete her Master's degree in Applied Linguistics from San Jose State University, with an emphasis on teaching English to speakers of other languages.

Since that time, Rebecca has focused on assisting non-native speakers of English in removing the stumbling blocks to their success and accomplishing the goals that their accent prevents them from attaining.
